Nostalgic Illusions?

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

In life, things are in rotation, like a revolving door; choosing when to step out or when to step in is all about timing. Change is one of the factors that affect timing. A change could mean that things are coming to an end, but it could also mean that you've embarked upon a new beginning.

Focus On The Unexpected Connection

A potentially new "anything" can be hard to spot at first. And if the new thing is unplanned, some bypass those moments time and time again. Going to a new job, preparing for the arrival of a new baby, or even going to a new school are planned new beginnings. However, meeting someone new, finding out that you're up for a promotion, or bumping into an old college dormmate could be categorized as an unexpected yet, potential connection to a new beginning. So seizing the moment can be the difference between living in a time loop or progressing in God's ordained reality.

We are in a New Era

Eras are a little different. Most times, new Eras come unexpectedly, but they're inevitable nonetheless. Earth has had many Eras throughout its existence. Phasing out of one stage and entering into a new one. Can you image the landmass on earth as one big terra firma, called Pangaea? Underground volcanoes, shifting tectonic plates, and other elements caused one of the first Eras. Earth changed because of timing. The world changed this year, yet we're fighting to remain the same.

The problem is that humans seem to like old paradigms and familiar epoch no matter its irrelevance to building the future. The patterns that we follow determine if we loop our experience or whether we change to exist in what God is creating. We are in a New Era. Whatever our part is, we play a tremendous role in the reformation for coming generations. God's kingdom in heaven is waiting for us to produce. The question is, are we ready?

Think of this time as a new genesis. We represent the original thought of God for humanity. Did you know that you are God's representation on earth made in the likeness and image of Yahweh-God? Therefore, your identity is intact. God disclosed and affirmed your purpose, like Jeremiah. Your job is to transact and produce for what's next. The fascinating thing about Jeremiah 32:19 is that God spoke to Jeremiah from the perspective of legitimacy, not as a variant. Are you an altered version of who God created you to be? If so, why? And how can you find the original path to align with God's perfect will? Your existence is not by happenstance, time to focus, prepare, and produce for the city of God. Don't stay in denial concerning this new Era, tethered to and imprisoned by nostalgic illusions. Reach for what's next as the Kingdom of God expects it.

Denial

A Mayo Clinic article says there are three ways to know if you are in denial. (1) Not acknowledging difficult situations. (2) Unable to face facts or a problem. (3) Downplaying possible consequences. These are avoidance strategies at work. Self-denial is also known as deception. And only one person has been a beguiler from the beginning as his main objective is to deceive (Revelations 20:8,10). Satan the accuser is his name. The bible says he was a murder from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language because he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44 Berean Study Bible). Decide to inherit your portion as an heir to the estate of heaven, then you'll face and overcome self-deception. Brothers and sisters, it's all about living in God's truth. I know the new saying is, 'Imma tell my truth.' How far has that mentality gotten humanity? The actuality of our lived experience is not our worth, neither is it Yahweh's truth about who we are as heirs. But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world (1 John 4:4). I understand that there are qualifying factors of legitimacy, but I digress.

Timewasters: A Distraction From Hell

There is a part of us that wants to be real, and learning how to be authentic without feeling rejected is a tremendous factor at the doorway of new beginnings. Our outcome is determined primarily by our perception of God's heavenly kingdom. God's kingdom is within us (Luke 17:21). So, how we see ourselves plays a huge factor in whether or not we identify with God's kingdom. Perception and permission are what our adversary aches for.

He rejoices when we maintain artificial connections, wrong people groups, or incorrect career choices because they're timewasters. Timewasters are distractions on assignment from hell. Timewasters can be anything that separates us from Godly purpose. The unfortunate truth is some people live their entire lives distracted. I digress. Choose to surrender the old frame of mind and wave goodbye to timewasters! The greatest defeat is an exasperated soul tethered to this temporal world.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I will yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God (Ps. 43:5).
